Blake Oneill
What do you get when you cross a marathon nut, a coffee enthusiast and a cracker building designer together? Blake. That’s what you get. Blake wakes at 4am, makes a litre of black coffee, trains either himself or a group of bootcampers for a couple of hours, smashes out a day of quality work here at Light House, dabbles in a spot of reading and will likely enjoy delicious food and a 4wd expedition on the weekend.
Professionally, Blake is an experienced Building Designer having led a range of large scale projects in Canberra for over 10 years. Blake started his design career in multi-residential, master planning and community public architecture, before moving onto education, defence and high-end residential design.
Blake joined the Light House team in late 2018 when he was looking for a company that shares his values and respects his autonomy as a designer. He loves to work on residential designs that are highly detailed but still simple. He also loves creating concept designs, preparing construction detailing and collaborating on site with builders to ensure the best outcomes are achieved for clients.
While Light House ticks his architectural boxes, Blake is adamant that a job is a job and spends his time actively contributing to his community and life out from behind the desk. His enthusiasm for balance is contagious, his beard is glorious and we’re all thankful to have him on board.
