Here comes the sun!
This year TWO Light House homes are opening their doors to people on the Solar House Day bus tour:
Finnis House on Sunday July 29
Blue Heeler House on Sunday August 5
Other terrific solar passive projects by Strine Design, Philip Leeson Architects, Jeremy Mather Architects, TT Architecture and Andrew Verri at Think, Make, Enjoy will also be on show.
On Wednesday night (yes, this Wednesday the 25th July!) there is a free expo and public lecture at the Shine Dome. Be part of a 'speed dating session' where you can have a 5 minute conversation with an architect (or scientist - Light House' Jenny will be there) about your house and/or sustainable design.
The topic of the lecture is "The future of housing in Canberra: What does it look like?" Catherine Townsend (ACT Government Architect) and Antonio Mozqueira (Manager Climate Change at ACT Government) will share their thoughts. After the lecture there will be a panel discussion with Catherine, Antonio, Shannon Battisson (AIA, The Mill Architecture & Design) and Glen Dowse (DNAA, HIA President).
Spaces are limited for both the lecture and the bus tours so get in quick - book here.
On Monday morning Jenny and Shannon had a great chat with Lish Fejer on ABC666. If you are interested in knowing more about some of this things discussed during that interview you can watch a short video about one of our award-winning solar passive designs and read about the 10 key Light House principles for solar passive design in previous journal posts.
