Fed' gov' presser at all-electric Light House
The Light House team has always been determined to help raise awareness of the potential to improve the efficiency, comfort and health of existing homes. We’ve been doing that and electrifying tens and tens and tens of homes across Canberra for well over a decade now.
Our reach and impact extends beyond our individual clients through our involvement in various local and national community organisations and our commitment to communicating the science of household energy efficiency and electrification via a wide range of platforms.
Yesterday, a Light House project — Little Loft House — was the backdrop for the federal government’s announcement about new Nationwide Electrification Accelerator Projects to reduce household energy bills. You an read about the announcement in the following articles:
Canberra Times: https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/8877198/canberra-suburb-to-be-selected-for-electric-transformation-funding/
Guardian Australia: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/jan/28/suburb-wide-electrification-trials-to-be-rolled-out-across-australia-in-bid-to-fuel-transition-away-from-gas
Our generous clients (who kindly let FIVE federal politicians and the associated media entourage visit their home at 9am!) know all about this. After retrofitting insulation and improving the airtightness of their 1980s home in Giralang AND switching from gas heating, gas hot water and gas cooking to be ALL-ELECTRIC, the energy use at the home has reduced by 70%.
You can find a Sustainable House Day webinar Jenny did about it on our website and loads more pics and info at these links:
